I was there with Steel when this happened so I can explain a little better
He had me targeted with his despair attack when he was near the edge of the arena and after the attack he was unable to move.
I'm thinking it may have something to do with the rune attacks because the only times I've seen him get stuck is after a rune attack.
Maybe you can give him some sort of wall detection so that when he goes near a wall he won't activate one of those attacks.
Other than that I have no idea of what the issue might be hopefully that kind of helps
